between stupidity, ignorance and rational ignorance

Lesson of the day is about stupidity, ignorance and rational ignorance

Stupidity : Lack of intelligence; poor use of judgement; insensitivity to nuances in a person who is other wise intelligent

Ignorance: " is not a defence" ( learnt that in Law School) ; lack of knowledge or just plain uninformed

Rational Ignorance: Ignorance about an issue is said to be rational when cost of educating oneself about that issue sufficiently to make an informed decision can outweigh any potential benefit one can reasonable expect to gain from that decision, and so it would be irrational to waste time doing so.

I encountered all three today....has anyone ever made a decision at one point in time and thought that it was made with all issues taken into consideration and yet to find out later it was the most stupidest thing you could have ever done...and you cannot justify your decision because ignorance is not a defence ?..and yet you knew that it was rational.

sigh...if this is a process that i have to go through so that i become a better leader in the future ..then let there be light at the end of the tunnel coz its mighty dark at the moment.

Common Breast Cancer Myths

The first myth pertaining to this disease is that it only affects women.

Second myth that is associated with this disease is that if one has found a lump during an examination, it is cancer.

Third is that it is solely hereditary

The next myth associated with breast cancer is downright ridiculous. Would you believe, that in this day and age, some individuals still think that breast cancer is contagious?

Conversely, some individuals foolishly believe that breast size determines whether or not one gets cancer.

Finally, another myth that is associated with this disease is that it only affects older people. This is not so. Although the chance of getting breast cancer increases with age, women as young as 18 have been diagnosed with the disease.
